This shows how time stands still as even after all this time, the two siblings can still recognize one another and cherish the moments they had together. Together with her father, June May embarks on a journey with her father. The first objective is that she finds her real roots while the other objective is that she helps her deceased mother satisfy her quest in that she gets to know her step twin sisters. This is a story of self discovery that highlights how June May achieves two objectives in the journey. As June May and her father embark on their train journey to China, the physical and symbolic setting of the story is established by the author. On this mission, she is lucky to meet her family members some of whom include her twin stepsisters. She embarks on a fact finding mission to find his true roots. Unfortunately for her, her mother passes away while she is in her thirties. June May’s family moved to the United States and settled in San Francisco, California.
